ヤンコは1890年にマヨルカ島でアルバラデボ家が創業したのがはじまり。紳士靴ブランドにアルバラデボというのがあるが実はヤンコ社の経営にあたり社内での考え方の違いからヤンコ社を設立した社長がヤンコ社から独立してアルバラデボを創業した。現在でもヤンコ社はアルバラデボ家が経営している。社会情勢のなかで工場閉鎖の事態に追い込まれたことがあったものの幾多の危機を乗り越え現在ではヨーロッパ最大手クラスのシューメーカーにまで成長した。ヤンコは日本では靴ブランドと知っている人が多いがそのスタートは天然皮革製品の生産と販売を行う会社で主な製品が紳士靴であった。ヤンコが得意とする製法であるグッドイヤーウェルテッドはその発祥でもあるイギリスのそれと比べても全く遜色はなく大変高い完成度であると評されている。
