「RIMOWA(リモワ)」は1898年、ポール・モルシェックがドイツのケルンでスタートしたスーツケースメーカーです。それまでスーツケースで一般的だった木製のものよりも、もっと軽量なスーツケースを作り出すことを目指しました。1937年、ポール・モルシェックの息子リチャード・モルシェック(Richard Morszeck)は航空機のアルミニウムに着目し、世界で初めて軽金属製のスーツケースを販売し、1950年には独特のリブが入った表面により、軽金属スーツケースをより丈夫で軽くしたスーツケースを販売。この軽くて丈夫なスーツケースは、航空機の搭乗員や乗客の間で一躍人気となりました。2000年以降、アルミニウムだけでなく、新しい素材のポリカーボネートを使用した製品も発表し、現在も世界中で愛されています。
