Even today, 150 years after its founding, Borsalino hats are still handmade by artisans using machines and wooden molds from the beginning of this century. They are famous for their soft hats and Panama hats, but they also manufacture Tyrolean hats, hunting hats, berets, safari hats, helmets (for motorcycles only), scarves, ties, and gloves. Surprisingly, they also manufacture bicycles. In Japan, they sell two types of products: those made in Italy and those licensed by domestic manufacturers. Most of the products sold are baseball caps and berets, and are made by domestic manufacturers. Soft hats are more popular in Italy than those made in Japan. Borsalino Japan is responsible for the import and sale of Borsalino brand imported products in Japan, as well as the licensing business for the brand. Chuo Hat Co., Ltd. is responsible for the production and sale of licensed hat products in Japan.
