■ BRAND

Turnbull & Asser was founded by two shirtmakers, Reginald Turnbull and Ernest Asser. They had been working as shirtmakers since around 1860, and in 1885 they became partners and established the company. A few years after the company was founded, Turnbull & Asser began to focus on hunting gloves, shirts, and socks for the upper class. They achieved early success by providing clothing for the upper class, and in 1902 moved their shop from the side of the church on Jermyn Street to their current location. In 1904, they received their first order from the royal family. It was a riding raincoat for Queen Alexandra. This led to Turnbull & Asser deepening their ties with the royal family. Today, they are known as a representative British shirt brand that is highly regarded around the world.
