It was launched as Christian Dior's men's wear line from the 2001-2002 Fall/Winter Paris Collection. Before Dior Homme, there was a men's line called "Dior MONSIEUR," which was a classical and conservative brand that was struggling at the time. When Edith Slimane, who was the men's designer at Yves Saint Laurent's ready-to-wear line, "Yves Saint Laurent rive gauche," became the director of the launch of Dior Homme, he released works with very tight silhouettes, mainly black, leather tuxedos, and slim jackets, causing a sensation around the world and making both Edith Slimane and Dior Homme famous around the world. This style influenced fashion around the world, created a trend, and became one of the leading brands in the men's fashion world. Hedi's term at Dior Homme ended with the 2007 Fall/Winter collection, and Kris Van Assche was appointed as the new creative director. He was Hedi's assistant when Dior Homme was launched, and he stayed at Dior Homme until he established his own brand in 2004. Kris' new Dior Homme, while incorporating classic and elegant elements, released many collections that were different from Hedi's Dior, while shifting to a more classical collection with an emphasis on suits, adopted designs that showed respect for Christian Dior, such as Christian Dior's letters and lily of the valley, which Dior liked, and gained popularity. Kim Jones, who led the big fashion house Louis Vuitton for seven years, was selected to take over from Kris, who resigned as creative director after 11 years, at Dior Homme from 2018. From the spring/summer 2019 collection, Dior Homme and its women's line have merged into Dior. The brand has also changed its designs from classic to humorous, and Kim Jones's signature street style has been expanded, successfully expanding its fan base.
