Church's began in 1873 when they opened a small workshop in Northampton, a town famous for shoemaking. Even today, Church's shoes are made in Northampton, a town that has had close ties to shoemaking since the days of Cromwell's Puritan Revolution. Just as in the past, each pair of shoes takes eight weeks to make and goes through 250 steps before being shipped. Church's' position as a global brand was further strengthened by a visit from Queen Elizabeth II and the company receiving the Queen's Award for its export power. Church's shoes have also established an unshakable position as a traditional British shoe brand, and are known to be a favorite of James from 007.
