メルミンの主宰者ホセ・アルバラデホ・ラミス氏は1963年、スペイン東部、地中海に浮かぶバレアレス州マヨルカ島に、100年以上靴作りを営む家庭に生まれました。彼の父はヤンコの創業者ホセ・アルバラデホ・プハーダス氏。長男のホセ氏は10代前半から父の仕事を手伝いながら靴作りを覚え、学校を卒業してから本格的に父の仕事を手伝い始めました。ところが、経営パートナーとの意見の違いから父が会社を去り、その後ホセ氏が最高責任者になりましたが、大きなメーカーでは実現できない理想の靴作りをしたいという想いが強くなり、2002年に弟のアレサンドロ氏と技術者数名で小さな靴工房を興しました。それがメルミンの始まりです。ホセ氏は靴作りを始めたとき、まず革の魅力に惹きつけられたといいます。世界各地のタンナーを巡り、原皮から鞣し染色までの革ができる工程すべてを研究し、現在に至っても革に対する探究心は尽きません。また、靴のフォルムを決める木型作りも同氏のライフワークで、自ら木型を削り出します。スペインの靴メーカーでは既製の木型を使うのが一般的ですが、その中にあって独自の木型にこだわり続けています。このこだわりと経験が、やがてメルミンの靴作りへと進化していったのです。

I'm a bit worried about the size...

In order to reduce any concerns about size, our staff measures all products manually.
It may be easier to understand if you measure the clothes you own and compare them with the measurement method in the size guide.
We also use original torsos of different sizes.
