パリジェンヌのアンと、モロッコ生まれのマルアンの二人は、パリとモロッコを行き来するうちに、モロッコの旧市街の市場でよく見かけるバッグや小物入れに使われている、ラフィアという素材に興味を抱く。ラフィアは湿地帯に育つヤシの一種。その繊維は、非常に強く丈夫ながら柔らかさも兼ね備えており、二人はその素材に魅せられ、ラフィアでアッパーを作り、クッション性を持たせたソフトなインソールと、軽くて返りの良い瀟 洒(しょうしゃ)なレザーソールを組み合わせ、他にはないナチュラルでコンフォートな靴を作ることを閃く。大通りによくある、商業的でありふれた大量消費型の店や物ではなく、路地を入った小道に佇む、小さくてもオリジナリティあふれるお店や人、物との出会いに共感を覚え、自分たちがデザインした、そのユニークな靴に、フランス語で『路地裏』を意味するContre Alleeという名を付けた。Contre Allee の靴は、ラフィアの特長であるしなやかさと柔らかさを最大限引き出すことのできる、モロッコの熟練した職人の手によって作られている。Contre Allee のデザインはモロッコ、カサブランカに漂う街の雰囲気から着想を得ており、どのモデルもカサブランカの街のエリア名を冠している。足を入れるだけで、異国情緒溢れ、涼感のあるリゾートスタイルを完成させることができる。
