アメリカのアウトドアブランド。1965年に、ジョージ・マークスとボブ・スワンソンの2人が、アメリカ・カリフォルニア州でシエラデザインズを創業する。ジョージ・マークスとボブ・スワンソンは自身のアウトドアの経験を活かしたアイディアと技術で様々な高機能なアウトドア製品を生み出している。1968年にはシエラデザインズの定番となる60/40素材(通称:ロクヨン)を用いたマウンテンパーカを発表。この素材は緯糸にコットンを約6割、経糸にナイロンを約4割使用し、コットン100%やナイロン100%よりも通気性と強度が増している。60/40クロスを用いたマウンテンパーカが人気を博し、アウトドアシーンだけでなく、街着のスタンダードとしても今なお広く愛され続けています。
