英国老舗アウターウェアブランド「マッキントッシュ」。創設者のチャールズ・マッキントッシュは特別な生地とコートを製作する会社を自ら設立し、「ゴム引きコート」は瞬く間にヨーロッパ中に広がりました。英国上流階級の人々の間では乗馬用コートが人気を博し、その実用性の高さから英国陸軍や英国国有鉄道で採用されました。マッキントッシュのゴム引きコートは今も当時の製法のままに作られています。縫製を施した縫い目の裏に全て防水テープを張り、ライニング、ポケットも接着により取り付けられ、完全防水になります。この工程は、職人が指に特殊なグルGlue（接着剤）をとり、伸ばして、貼り付けて、ローラーをかけ、乾かすという事を繰り返して行われます。そして、MACKINTOSHのブランドレーベルの下に“Genuine Handmade”（正真正銘のハンドメイド）のレーベルが縫い付けられます。
