The brand was founded in Rome in 1860 by Giuseppe Cifonelli. Cifonelli has served successive French presidents, with the second generation learning tailoring techniques in England and opening a shop in Paris, and the third generation, who was praised as a maestro, now leading a team of skilled craftsmen, with the fourth generation inheriting the skills of a tailor. Hermes' ready-made suits are made by Belvest, but it is Cifonelli who is in charge of the visspoke line. As expected from a brand recognized by Hermes, it is an extremely high-performance brand.
