創業者のジョージクレバリーは、1898年に靴作りを営む家系に誕生。ロンドンのビスポークブランドにて40年近くキャリアを積んだ後、1958年、自身のブランド「ジョージ クレバリー(GEORGE CLEVERLEY)」をスタート。ロンドンのメイフェアに店舗を構える。チゼルトゥの生みの親であり、靴作りの技術で数多くの逸話を残し、靴作りの神とまで言われた人物です。同氏の手から生まれる靴は世界中の靴好きを虜にし、履き心地・フォルムの完成度はまさに一級品であり、この靴に魅了された人物の中にはチャーチル首相やアメリカの俳優ゲイリー・クーパー等名だたる著名人が名を連ねます。
