2001-2002年秋冬のパリコレクションからクリスチャン ディオールのメンズウェアラインとして発足。ディオールオム発足以前は、「ディオールムッシュ（Dior MONSIEUR）」というメンズラインがあり、当時はクラシカルでコンサバティブなブランドで低迷していたメンズラインから新たに誕生したブランドです。イヴサンローラン（Yves Saint Laurent）のプレタポルテライン、「イヴサンローラン リブゴーシュ（Yves Saint Laurent rive gauche）」でメンズ部門デザイナーを担当していたエディスリマンがディオールオムのブランド立ち上げのディレクターに就任すると、黒をメインにレザータキシード、細身のジャケットを中心とした非常にタイトなシルエットの作品を発表し、世界中にセンセーションを巻き起こし、エディスリマン、ディオールオムの両名を世界に轟かせることになります。このスタイルは、世界中のファッションに影響を与え、一つのトレンドを生み出し、メンズファッション界を牽引するブランドの一つとなりました。そんなエディによるディオールオムは任期満了により、2007年秋冬コレクションで終わり、新たにクリスヴァンアッシュ（Kris Van Assche）が就任。ディオールオムの立上げ当時、エディのアシスタントをしており、自身のブランドの設立の2004年までディオールオムに在籍していました。 クリスによる新たなディオールオムは、クラッシックでエレガントな要素を取り入れつつも、エディのディオールとはまた違ったコレクションが多く発表された一方で、よりクラシカルでスーツに重きを置いたコレクションにシフトしながらも、クリスチャンディオールの手紙をモチーフにしたり、ディオールが好んでいた鈴蘭をモチーフにしたりと、リスペクトするようなデザインを取り入れ、人気を博しました。11年間のクリエイティブディレクターを辞任したクリスの後任として2018年からのディオールオムにはビッグメゾンである「ルイヴィトン」を7年間率いてきた「キムジョーンズ（Kim Jones）」が抜擢。2019年の春夏コレクションからは「ディオール オム」が、ブランド名をウィメンズラインとともに「ディオール(DIOR)」と統合。また、クラシックからユーモアなデザインに一新し、キムジョーンズの得意なストリートなデザインも増え、ファン層の拡大に成功しています。
