The history of Alpo, a luxury glove manufacturer using high-quality soft leather and cashmere, began in the late 19th century as a handicraft by the Portolano family in Naples, Italy. Alberto, the eldest son of founder Fortunato Portolano, established a consistent system from manufacturing to sales, and opened shops in Florence, Naples, and Palermo. By applying a unique tanning process to carefully selected cowhide, the leather is finished in an extremely soft manner. In terms of design, Alpo was the first glove brand to employ a top designer, evolving gloves into fashion accessories, and their high fashionability is also one of the attractions of Alpo.
